The Demographic and Socio-Economic Profiles Database is the result of a long process of data collection and processing by the CERPOD Department of INSAH, in collaboration with the National Statistics Offices of the CILSS member countries, aimed at providing users with a working tool for planning and decision-making that requires data from different sources which until now were scattered or in a state difficult to exploit. Faced with many methodological, collection, and data processing issues, as well as difficulties in comparing data, this Database does not claim to be the perfect or definitive solution to the problems of data use in the CILSS countries. However, these data and the online query system have the merit of equipping users, especially planners, in preparing development strategies. The Profile Database query system should be considered evolving.
