Introduction

The Phytobase regional database is a tool developed by the AGRHYMET Regional Centre for monitoring crop pests in the Sahel and West Africa.

Recommendations

This guide is intended for national plant protection officers.

It enables users to become familiar with the Phytobase platform for entering and processing data on crop pests, attacks, damage, and treatment methods and tools.

Participatory Approaches and Local Governance

Strengthen community participation: Involve farmers, local authorities, and other stakeholders in planning and decision-making regarding water management. Create water management committees: These local committees would ensure fair distribution and rational use of water resources.

Adoption of Modern Technologies

Implementation of smart irrigation systems: Promote drip irrigation and weather-based technologies to optimize water use. Deployment of remote sensing tools and mobile applications: These tools allow accurate real-time monitoring of water levels and crop needs.
